Sega’s first-person sci-fi horror Alien: Isolation is surely very much about your interaction with the xenomorph of titular reference, but the constant threat of danger makes it hard to take in everything around you. Thankfully a modder has found a way to let us stop and smell the space roses.
Recently posted in the steam community, this mod takes the Alien’s behavior and removes it entirely so it never takes any action. What that means is that it will never come out to chase you or anyone else throughout the entire game. The aggressive humans and androids will still very much be trouble to your journey, but with this mod you can take some time to really take in and enjoy the scenery of what would otherwise be some intense and difficult to explore areas.
Alien: Isolation is definitely predicated by the constant tension that can be felt in every moment of silence or the slightest sound of metallic impact in the far off distance, but the Sevastopol Station is also a beautiful sight to take in when you have the time to look at it. The moments between dilapidation and sterility in this dying place that battles between chaos and control is a sight to behold.
If you’re interested in getting a look at a mod that can grant you some of that freedom, you can find a description and the files for it here.
