After the disappointing cancellation of Dead Island 2, several former Yager developers have set up a new studio, inbetweengames. Based in Berlin, the studio will focus on smaller budget indie games.
”inbetweengames are three former AAA developers who worked together at YAGER in Berlin on Dead Island 2,” the team writes. ”When that game got cancelled, we started thinking about what we wanted to do next. Turns out we wanted to keep making video games! So now we’re happy to announce that we’ll keep doing that as an indie team!
The three developer who make up inbetweengames - Isaac Ashdown, Jan David Hassel, and Rafal Fedro - are currently working on an iOS version of their Ludum Dare project The Mammoth: A Cave Painting, but they have other plans in motion. They’re not quite ready to spill the beans just yet, though.
”We’re working on it!,” says Hassel regard the team’s next big project. ”Currently we are making a lot of prototypes and are exploring different approaches to it. We have a general idea that we think could be fun and interesting. However you never know with those things so if turns out that our assumptions are wrong or we find something more interesting along the way we will change direction and go with something else instead. But we will drop whatever we can share as soon as we can.”
