Publisher Nordic Games has acquired the IP for tactical space-RTS series Nexus from HD Publishing. Only one game has been released under that name, 2004's well-received
“We think that Nexus was one of those heavily overlooked, hidden gems in the niche of Space-RTS,” says Reinhard Pollice, business and product development director at Nordic Games in a press release sent to us today. “We hope to start working on a sequel in the near future.”
The Jupiter Incident. was developed by Hungarian studio Mithis Entertainment, and focused on pure tactics and fleet deployment rather than base-building and resource gathering. It featured big, cinematic battles with up to ten capital ships on each side.
The game never quite received the adulation of something like the, but it's well regarded among fans of the genre. It'll be interesting to see what Nordic has planned for the property. We'll definitely have a new team at the helm; developer Mithis was bought up by Eidos in 2006, and then turned over to Square Enix in 2009, before being shut down a year later.
