Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six Siege will ship with ten multiplayer maps, the publisher has told PC Gamer. That might not sound a huge amount, but the developer whittled that number down from 50 map ideas, so hopefully the cream of the crop remains.
“As for now yes, there are ten maps,” said level designer Benoit Deschamps, ”but we have more planned because we’re already working on more content for players after launch.”
Really, quality over quantity is what you need from a real competitive shooter. Take Counter-strike for example, the 1.0 version of which shipped with only eleven maps. They just happened to be absolute crackers like ‘Dust’. If Siege can get anywhere near that level, we’ll all be very happy.
The game’s closed Beta is set to kick off on September 24. It will launch in full this December.
