AMD's CEO Lisa Su has apparently let slip the release date for Windows 10 - Seeking Alpha reports that during the graphics card company's last earnings call, Su said that the next iteration of Microsoft's operating system will drop "at the end of July".
Replying to a JP Morgan representative who questioned her on the company's second quarter plans, Su said; "What we also are factoring in is, you know, with the Windows 10 launch at the end of July, we are watching sort of the impact of that on the back-to-school season, and expect that it might have a bit of a delay to the normal back-to-school season inventory build-up.
Pretty clear wording there. Microsoft hasn't officially confirmed its release plans for Windows 10, but it has said that the software would release sometime this Summer.
When it drops, Windows will be a free upgrade to Windows 7 and 8.1 users, even those who've pirated the previous editions. It will also herald the launch of DirectX 12, which is something PC gamers will be keeping a close eye on.
