Slitherine has announced a new science fiction 4X strategy game by Russian developer SoftWarWare, Polaris Sector, which the studio promises to be a game filled with ”treachery, oppression, and the lust for power.”
In Polaris Sector, players will get a galaxy full of hundreds of star systems, resources to exploit and treaties to negotiate with other factions. The new angle the game is taking is that ”players will have to give special attention to the mechanics of technological progress and warfare”. They will be able to build warships with exacting specifications, ”finding the right balance between fundamental and applied sciences.”

Polaris Sector is expected to be released on PC sometime in 2016.
