Indie developers Dancing Dragon Games, who previously worked on Skyborn, Deadly Sin 1 and 2, and Degica, have announced their new steampunk JRPG-style game, Echoes of Aetheria, will be launching on Steam this coming 15 January 2016.
The plot revolves around the interruption of a wedding between two nationsl, leading to a chase of the kidnappers by the heroes. The plot soon unravels, involving ”treason, defection, rebellion, and even the creation of a new nation,” with the scope going from personal valor to having to decide the fate of the entire countries.
It seems that there is a new renaissance for RPGs on PC, and that the biggest addition are the throwbacks to the old retro console Japanese roleplaying games, featuring anime, turn-based tactical battles and grand sweeping stories set in hybrid fantasy and steampunk worlds. These include both remakes and remasters of classic JRPGs like those in the Final Fantasy series, or completely new games like To The Moon and this game.
The minimum system requirements for Echoes of Aetheria, which can be found on Steam here, are as follows:
- OS: Windows 98 / XP / Vista / 7 / 8
- Processor: 1ghz
- Memory: 256 MB RAM
- Storage: 300 MB available space
