HTC Vive released in April, while the Oculus Rift launched in March, although sales for both systems appear to have dried up. According to a recent survey conducted by Valve on Steam, figures show that interest is dropping.
Vive ownership in July only grew by about 0.3 per cent, and it doesn’t look like it had any growth in August. The Oculus Rift is only slightly different, managing to grow by 0.3 per cent in July and 0.1 per cent in August.
As it currently stands, only 0.18 per cent of Steam users own a Vive, while 0.10 per cent are using a Rift. That’s not the rosiest of pictures for VR on PC, but then there’s not a lot of outstanding content for it at the moment. Costs and technical obstacles are probably at fault too.
Did you pick up a HTC Vive or Oculus Rift on launch? What do you make of the experience so far?
