Gamers who have been sent a notification to download the latest nVidia graphic driver, version 364.47, are strongly advised not to do, as the driver is apparently not only buggy but destructive as well.
Reports have come in of the driver causing blue screens of death, locking the computer and not allowing Windows to boot, causing restart loops, losing sound, graphic artifacts, and worse, actually damaging graphic cards through overheating.
These serious issues have been posted on the official GeForce forum and Reddit. Some users complained that they actually had to restore Windows 10 itself, since their restore point was damaged. Another user reported, ”The whole system crashed and couldn’t boot anymore.”
nVidia issued a statement saying, ”We had received reports of some users having issues installing driver version 364.47. Initial investigation suggests the issue was related to doing an “Express” installation. If you happen to have a pending installation of 364.47, we recommend that you do not install it and either use the new 364.51 beta version or wait for the WHQL certified version.”
Let us know if you’d downloaded the 364.47 driver and suffered any of the serious issues mentioned by other gamers.
