Deep Silver has announced that the dystopic shooter Homefront: The Revolution will be getting a 17th May, 2016 release date in North America, with other territories getting the game three days later.
The game takes a page from Prototype in that Philadelphia, where the game is set, is divided into Green, Yellow and Red Zones. According to the publisher, most of the game takes place in the Yellow Zones. "Distinct from the war-ravaged wastelands of the Red Zones, and the highly militarised Green Zones, this densely populated environment offers a unique challenge and gameplay experience to would-be Freedom Fighters," explains the press release.
Deep Silver also announced an exclusive Xbox One beta that will be run in February. The publisher will collaborate with Microsoft to distribute tokens for beta access in the next few weeks.
The trailer "This Is Philadelpha" was released in concert with the launch date announcement to give the general tone of the game, which seems to hark back to the absurd "America invaded!" films of the 80's, which included B movies such as Red Dawn and Invasion, USA.
