The $800,000 Kickstarter game seems to be making a lot of progress since it was first announced back in October 2015. Prior to this announcement, the developers have kept somewhat quiet, only releasing snippets of gameplay and art.
The latest Friday the 13th gameplay released by Gun Media is still in Early Alpha state, so bear that in mind before passing judgment. Released on the first day of E3 2016, this gameplay footage gives people the opportunity to see how the game actually works. Coming in at over four minutes, there’s enough footage for potential players to see if this game would be something they would be interested in.
As you can tell from the gameplay video, the perspective switches from the killer Jason to the Camp Crystal Lake counsellors. Some of the kills made by Jason are genuinely scary (if you ignore some of the dodgy animations), his movements look slow but deliberate. There’s such a contrast between playing as Jason and the counsellors – we look forward to seeing more from Gun Media.
The gameplay footage seems to be a lot darker than the game should probably be, but we’ll chalk that up to a problem occurring during the rendering of the video.
Friday the 13th: The Game is scheduled for release Fall 2016 for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. If the game doesn’t release on or around October 13th then we’ll be surprised!
