I like adventure games. I like psychedelic weirdness. This means that the work of Amanita Design is right up my alley. The studio that brought you the mechanical wonderland of Machinarium and the microscopic party of Botanicula is now hard at work on the third Samorost game. And it’s due out soon!
Watch the trailer below and revel in its glory! A little elf dude lost among the stars! An onion UFO! A monkey in an underground hot tub! A guy with a coconut head! That giant, terrifying, adorable anteater! Every Samorost has been as much about wild visuals as anything else, and this looks to be no exception.
The first Samorost was a free web game released way back in 2003, and its gentle poking and prodding explorations made it a truly unique point-and-click adventure. You can still play it, and you should! (It’s only like 15 minutes long.) It’s less about solving puzzles that it is about prodding the environment until something happens.
I must admit to being a bit concerned about Samorost 3. Will that charming, tiny experience translate well into a full game? Will that anteater prove to be friend or foe? We’ll find out together when it’s released for PC and Mac on March 24.
