Patrice Désilets, creator of Assassin’s Creed, has agreed to settle the year-long legal dispute with Ubisoft over project 1666 Amsterdam.
In the official press release by Panache Digital Games (Désilets’ own company), Désilets had this to say: “I’m glad Ubisoft and I were able to come to an agreement that will allow me to obtain the rights to project 1666 Amsterdam. I will now devote myself entirely to the development of Ancestors: the Humankind Odyssey, my next game with Panache Digital Games. This is what matters most to me today: making the best games and showing the world the creative talent of Quebecers. I also wish every success to the Ubisoft teams.”
Ubisoft stopped the production of 1666 Amsterdam back in 2013 following Désilets’ termination from the company. Since then, Désilets has formed Panache Digital Games in Montreal. Désilets and his team announced back in 2015 their new project – Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey.
We probably won’t be seeing anything from 1666 Amsterdam any time soon, as Désilets has said in the press release that being free from this legal dispute will allow the team at Panache Digital Games to work on Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey.
