With the Japanese Final Fantasy 'Fan Festival' behind us, all eyes are now on the final leg of the tour - the Frankfurt event next month. Fans are still scratching their heads over which class will be revealed for Final Fantasy XIV's next expansion, and they're looking for clues in every available place.
With a new year comes a new poem for the hardcore fans to decipher. With each patch ending on a similar note, it's always a time for players to finish up their duties and take a stab as to what's coming next. And with one class still to be announced for the game's upcoming Stormblood expansion, fans are looking to every sliver of hope that the latest tease is, in fact, a tease.
Traditionally, the shirts worn by the game's producer Naoki Yoshida have been the subtle - or sometimes not so subtle - hints relating to a new class announcement. But while some fans fixate themselves on the Spider-man shirt he wore last, others are latching onto the new poem shown in the image above.
How did PC gaming become one of the strongest markets of 2016? Free-to-Play and expensive GPUs, apparently.
Focusing mostly on the final line of the script, the players are currently weighing up the chance that it relates to a class hint at all. With the expansions following a colour theme, it's very likely the whole thing just relates to us moving from the blue theme of the current expansion to the red theme of the next. But others the the final line as a way to debunk the anticipated Blue Mage (azure) announcement in favor of a Gunblade user (Squell being the gunblade protagonist of Final Fantasy VIII).
It's a long shot in either direction, but goes to show how people will grasp at anything for a little bit of early information. There's 1001 different theories regarding the Spiderman shirt, so who knows which way things will go.
