While certain companies seem to be jumped on board with the idea of announcing a title that's due to release within the same 12 month period, Square Enix isn't quite ready for that; announcing a new RPG from a new studio before even hiring most of its staff.
Introducing the world to Studio Istolia, Sqaure Enix's CEO must have been cooking up the news of new RPG series while in Germany accepting a Guinness World Record for shipping 87 titles in the most prolific JRPG series on the planet.
Through the issues press release, Square Enix explains that the term 'Istolia' is borrowed from the Greek equivalent of the word 'Story'. For anyone even remotely familiar with RPGs of any nationality, they'll know just how much emphasis storytelling is given in the genre. It's the bread and butter, so to speak.
Atlus Announce 'Project Re Fantasy' Headed By Hashino's New Studio Zero
"The aim of the studio is to provide unforgettable stories that will inspire players in their own lives, and bring new game experiences to everyone around the world." Being headed by Hideo Baba, producer on many of Bandai Namco's 'Tales Of' series, it isn't difficult to imagine why Square Enix decided to set him up with a new series about spinning tall tales. Who knows when we'll actually see more of this; but it likely won't be for a while.
Without any solid information, all we're given of the new project is the 'Prelude Rune' codename and a bunch of gorgeous, if generally unhelpful, concept art and mention of the group still on the look out for planners, designers and programmers.
