Defiance 2050 is out and it's lots of fun, but the combat seems to primarily shooter-focused. The previous version of Defiance had melee weapons such as Charge Blades, but they seem to have been removed from 2050.
Unlike the previous version of Defiance, melee weapons do not seem to be easily available - and yet the game clearly shows characters using them. So how do you get melee weapons in Defiance 2050? We show you, currently, the only way to get a charge blade in Defiance 2050...
Defiance 2050 - Where to Get Melee Weapons or Charge Blades
There are many changes between Defiance 2050 and Defiance Classic, but perhaps the biggest is the near complete removal of melee-focused weapons from the new game. There were previously a number of Charge Blades to get, but now they're all gone.
Well, almost. One single Charge Blade remains in the game - the Hidden Blade, and there's a very specific way to unlock it. To start with, you'll need the Assassin Class, as it's exclusive to that class. You'll also need to be high level.
- Get The Assassin Class - either by choosing Assassin at the beginning of the game, or by following our instructions here.
- The Hidden Blade is a Tier 5 EGO Power - rank up to a high character class and EGO level. You'll need 17 Points to unlock it, so you won't be seeing it for a while.
- Choose 'Hidden Blade' over 'Big Bang' - you really want the melee weapon? You'll have to sacrifice the charged sniper rifle to get it.
- Get killing! - the blade is now an EGO power on cooldown, so you can use it continuously!
Energy depletes from the Hidden Blade over time, more so as you use it. You can upgrade it however:
Rank 1 (start): 25% energy
Rank 2: 50% energy
Rank 3: 75% energy
Rank 4: 100% energy
