Remasters and re-releases of strategy classics have become a common thing as of late, but it’s not often we learn about studios repackaging three different games under the same roof. With Elemental: Reforged, Stardock Entertainment aims to do exactly that. And we’re not talking about a big unified launcher; all three experiences are becoming one.
Yes, War of Magic, Fallen Enchantress, and Sorcerer King are leaving the constraints of 32-bit technology behind, as Elemental: Reforged “blends the best of all three with Dynasties, Unit Design and Crafting by moving to a 64-bit game engine and a modern version of DirectX.” The best part of the announcement? That it’s coming to Steam Early Access on October 23, which is sooner than anyone expected.
Bradley Wardell, CEO of Stardock and designer of Elemental: Reforged, said the following about the early access launch:
“We didn’t originally plan on having Early Access… We assumed we’d just finish the remastering and release in February 2026. But fans’ interest has been much greater than anticipated. With Early Access, we have the opportunity to refine the game alongside our players and prioritize what they want us to focus on.”
Elemental: Reforged is a fantasy strategy-RPG sandbox in which players create their own heroes and factions to play across procedurally generated worlds “filled with lore-rich quests, evolving environments that respond to your magic, unique fantasy civilizations, and bustling cities populated with individually simulated characters.” Think of a turn-based fantasy take on Mount & Blade. As an extra, modding is coming with Steam Workshop integration.
