Fellowship’s pre-season 2 update will give newer players a helping hand through the introduction of the Pathfinder’s Guidance Ascension, which not only makes finding a route through dungeons easier but also grants bonuses when fighting marked enemies.
In a Q&A video that delves into what we can expect from the game’s next big update, Game Director Axel Lindberg delved into how the Ascension works and the team’s reasoning behind adding it.
Fellowship’s Pathfinder’s Guidance Ascension Arrives in Pre-season 2 Update
Active “from the very start”, the Pathfinder’s Guidance Ascension affects dungeons from Contender 1 all the way to Paragon capstone, Lindberg explains.
“Pathfinder’s Guidance will highlight enemies in the adventure dungeon […] to guide you through not the most optimal, but a straightforward path that will ensure getting 100% killscore and finding the boss in the dungeon.”
This is part of the developer’s efforts to onboard players new to the sub-genre, especially those brave enough to take on the role of tank, and help them get used to how it plays.
“[…]any time you start a dungeon, some enemies will have a blueish glow and a pillar that [reaches] towars the sky. You don’t have to just pull the enemies with Pathfinder’s Guidance […] however, you will get some benefits as long as you’re in combat with enemies with the Pathfinder’s Guidance mark on them.”
Although the team is still tuning the exact numbers ahead of the pre-season 2 update’s release later this month, currently these bonuses include a “20% flat haste in Contender,” tapering off by 5% with each new difficulty tier.
“By Paragon capstone, this Ascension is turned off, and it is always turned off in Eternal,” Lindberg said.
Onboarding has been one of Fellowship’s issues as it headed into early access, contributing to the drop in concurrent player numbers it experienced.
Hopefully, pre-season 2’s Pathfinder’s Guidance Ascension and the difficulty changes discussed in the Q&A video embedded below will make new players stick around for longer.
