Publisher Paradox Interactive today announced that Project Caesar, its upcoming historical grand strategy game, is finally getting revealed next week, on May 8.
Developed by Paradox Tinto, the title has been discussed for over a year now in a series of developer diaries dubbed Tinto Talks, which continues to cover different aspects of gameplay while also acting as a tool for gathering fan feedback and using these suggestions to improve the game ahead of release.
Project Caesar Official Announcement
Described as the “next major title in the genre,” Project Caesar’s official announcement kicks off on Thursday, May 8, at 9 AM PT/12 PM ET/5 PM BST.
In the livestream embedded below, the development team will introduce us to its main features, “reveal how it transforms the genre,” and hopefully reveal the game’s actual title.
Since it’s unofficial reveal, with the start of the Tinto Talks series of developer diaries, fans have speculated on where exactly this mysterious, upcoming project slots into Paradox’s existing roster of grand strategy games.
Its historical focus and images depicting gameplay from as early as 1337 led many to speculate that we may be looking at the next entry in the Europa Universalis series, but Paradox might also be cooking something new in a mostly familiar setting.
Project Caesar’s announcement livestream is hosted, at the time of writing, on the official EU YouTube channel, which will undoubtedly add fuel to that speculation fire.
Thankfully, it won’t be long now before we learn whether or not Europa Universalis 5 is actually on the way.
In other Paradox news, Victoria 3 has a “full team” dedicated to it, while newly-acquired studio Haemimont Games is involved in several projects, one of which could prove familiar.
