It’s no secret psychological thriller Martha Is Dead kickstarted a good amount of heated conversations when it released. Now, it seems that studio LKA is looking to shock players again with When Sirens Fall Silent, its next distressing game set in Italy.
“In When Sirens Fall Silent, LKA continues its tradition of perfectly recreating real Italian locations, whilst delivering a haunting and uncomfortable narrative unseen before in video games. The studio has consistently tackled difficult topics head-on and this latest project will not shy away from storytelling that pushes the boundaries of art. There will be no face peeling… this is a different kind of horror.”
Watch the “extended cut” trailer for When Sirens Fall Silent (Act I: The Kidnapped) below:
The shocking (and intriguing) trailer appears to be the first in a series of previews that will take us into the early 1990s setting through the news media’s perspective. LKA is promising (and the reveal trailer backs these words up) a truly advanced UE5 presentation and “deep links and crossovers” to all previous LKA games; the “Storie Senza Voce” series all takes place in the same continuity.
We see a captive (is she?) young woman being forced to record a video message aimed at specific people, telling everyone before that she’s scared and doesn’t want to die. The setup feels extremely familiar, yet the chilling final seconds throw a first twist our way and tease something more sinister.
At the time of writing, When Sirens Fall Silent hasn’t announced a console release. Instead, it’ll launch via Steam and the Epic Games Store, where narrative-oriented game enjoyers can already wishlist it while we wait for a release window.
