Red Dead Redemption 2 has appeared on the Australian Rating Board website again, this time not under the guise of ‘Bonaire’ or any other code. The game appears to have been filed for classification on 20th of August, meaning it’s relatively fresh.
The Rating Board refused to classify Red Dead Redemption 2 for some reason, but given that it’s a new filing, it only makes sense that it would concern the inevitable PC version of the game. The reason why the Board would refuse to classify RDR 2 is currently unknown, but it’s well-known that the game doesn’t pull any punches in regard to content.
ORIGINAL, 23rd of September: It’s no secret that Red Dead Redemption 2 PC has been a long time coming. Having launched in October 2018, we’ve been wondering when a PC build would be announced ever since. Bonaire gave fans a bit of hope in that regard.
For those who aren’t in the loop, Bonaire is Rockstar’s latest mysterious classification filing, which people quickly took to being RDR2 PC. Though it took them a while to respond, IARC has now confirmed that this isn’t the case.
“The Department has contacted the game developer who advised that an error was made when completing the IARC questionnaire. There is no computer game called Bonaire,” said the IARC representative. “It has been removed from the National Classification Database.”
This is basically the worst-case scenario for those who wanted to finally play RDR 2 on PC. Now that we know Bonaire is a dead-end, we’re not sure what else is there to go on in this regard.
It’s clear that there’s an awful lot of people who’d like to play Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC, and it’s impossible for Rockstar and 2K to be unaware of this. The number of leaks and announcements we’ve covered already is lenghty, but it seems it’ll just keep growing for a while yet.
