Oriental Empires, the rather snazzy 4X strategy game by Shining Pixel Studios set in ancient China, has just received a major functionality update, allowing players access to a variety of powerful tools to create their own levels and campaigns.
While it's pretty obvious what exactly the function of a map editor is, the scenario editor is a bit more vague. This is because it's a powerful toolset that lets players define their own factions, cities, buildings, armies, and even include their own custom faction symbols. Even better, since Oriental Empires offers full integration with Steam, players can even go so far as to upload and share their creations via the Workshop which usually works wonders for the longevity of any game that offers this type of service. If you're a fan of historically-themed 4X titles and could even potentially do with some modding in your life, Oriental Empires is now available via Steam for €27,99, which is a fair price, considering the amount of content already present in the package.
