Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is now preparing to wrap up the first half of 2025 and look to a future which looks bright despite Space Marine 3’s surprising announcement. Now, we’re all waiting for the next major update, Patch 8, which will include the long-anticipated Horde mode.
With Update 7.0 (as well as the 7.1 hotfix) in the can, Saber has turned its full attention to the next major patch, which has been detailed through an April Community Update, with news on the Horde mode and new content (as well as the usual premium cosmetics) being teased alongside other changes coming to the game.
There’s also talk of an all-new class coming to the game, with many fans theorizing it might be the medic-like Apothecary or a Techmarine, yet it seems Focus and Saber and keeping some secrets away from leakers and dataminers, promising there’s much more to come to Space Marine 2’s gory PvE and PvP battlefields.
Space Marine 2 Patch 8.0 Release Date
Update 8.0 hasn’t been dated yet, but we know it should arrive before the end of Q2 2025 unless major delays have affected Saber’s roadmap for the game. The new community update has shed more light on the most immediate plans for the game, yet we’re waiting for confirmation on the big date fans have been anticipating for a while.
We’ll be updating this article with the latest news as soon as they come.
Space Marine 2 Patch 8.0 Content
Specifics about the new content coming in Update 8.0 have now been shared, but the April Community Update doesn’t hold all the answers and in-depth details. Those will likely arrive closer to Patch 8’s release.
So far, we know Update 8.0 (soon coming to the PTS) will include following content:
- Horde mode for up to 3 players. Tyranids and Chaos are the enemies. Difficulty will increase after each wave, and PvE unlocks and experience are carried over from co-op missions. Set in Kadaku.
- Blood Angels Cosmetic Pack (premium)
- White Scars Champion Pack (premium)
- Rebalanced Absolute difficulty following community polls.
- More content yet to be revealed.
Beyond Patch 8, players should expect more Tyranid and Chaos enemies to shoot and tear through, plenty of new PvP maps and new PvE missions, and extra tools of destruction, some of them attached to surprising classes that could be the spiciest additions to the game yet. Right now, there’s no end to the post-launch support of Space Marine 2 in sight, so don’t let the xenos catch their breath, brothers.
