After a substantial first anniversary update for Space Marine 2 and teasing its Year 2 plans, Saber Interactive is putting the pedal to the metal in order to keep the excitement going. Late September’s community blog post is one that warrants a closer inspection.
Once again, Saber and Focus are thanking everyone for their support as they walk into a second year of paid and free content (remember that cosmetics are the only paid DLCs) and the third game takes shape in the shadows. So, what should we expect from Patch 11, which is set to arrive before the end of year?
“As announced in our roadmap, the next Champion Pack will be the Blood Angels’ and it will be associated with the Tactical class,” the team says about the next paid cosmetics. But of course, the Salamanders are also getting tons of love: “As for the Salamanders Cosmetic Pack, it will include the heraldry of various Salamanders Successor Chapters, as well as different armour parts.” No proper look at these packs yet, but expect screenshots soon.
As for the new PvE mission coming in Update 11, it’ll be an off-world one and include a new boss fight. Moreover, here are the first images:
Heroic Weapons were also brought up, with the devs confirming they “will keep adding new Heroic Weapons with the major updates, starting with Update 11.” First up, we’re getting the Thunder Hammer. Last but not least, Update 11 will also include the option to let bots use your own loadouts, which will be incredibly useful for players who like to go solo and show off.
We were also surprised to see a final tease regarding new customisation options coming to the game at a later date. Don’t expect proper details for a while though.
Now, in October, players should get ready for a new community event called “The Vortex Scouring” which runs from October 2 to 16. Players must team up to “collectively bring down 500,000 Vortex Beasts.” The reward will be the Infiltrator Helmet for the Vanguard and Sniper classes.
Those who are curious about Space Marine 2 but don’t know if it’s their cup of tea yet will also be able to play a limited-time demo on Steam and consoles from October 16 to 20. Here are the full details:
“This demo will give you a first look at the Campaign: Rain of Terror and Skyfire, PVP modes (except Helbrute Onslaught) will be playable and three Operations will be available: Inferno, Decapitation and Vox Liberatis. All classes will be playable, and all weapons available. Rest assured, if the demo convinces you and you decide to purchase the game: your progression will be carried to the full game!”
Make sure to head over to Steam for the full rundown on this and more. We’ll be keeping tabs on everything Space Marine 2 here too, so stay tuned.
