Publisher and developer Offworld has revealed the first set of details regarding Starship Troopers: Extermination’s update 1.8, confirming that a new company progression system will be deployed when it launches in early December 2025 alongside a new map and more.
When Starship Troopers: Extermination’s patch 1.8 goes live, companies can level up through 50+ tiers, “unlocking unique emblems and frames to proudly display your Federation identity.”

In addition, we’ll also be able to unlock additional company slots. Doing so allows us to invite more Troopers, expanding our company’s ranks and, hopefully, making us more efficient at slaughtering endless swarms of bugs.
We’ll continue to earn intel at the end of every match in Starship Troopers: Extermination’s patch 1.8, the developer notes, and it plays a part in the company’s leveling progress.
Starship Troopers: Extermination’s update 1.8 also introduces a new critical strike map named Boreas that sees us putting our combat skills to the test across a frozen wasteland.
Furthermore, air strikes are a brand-new side objective set to be added to both ARC and Advance and Secure missions.
“Troopers will need to defend Fleet Relays out in the field to call in TAC Fighters for devastating bombing runs on the Bug hordes,” according to the developer. “The more Bugs you obliterate, the more XP you’ll earn for the Federation.”
Starship Troopers: Extermination’s update 1.8 is expected to launch in early December, also including a series of bug fixes, quality-of-life improvements, and a server optimization pass, which should hopefully make the experience of cooperatively pushing back the bug menace even smoother. More details will be shared as we get closer to launch.
