We have no shortage of intriguing turn-based strategy games, with even more heavy hitters planning to arrive before the year ends. Bonaparte - A Mechanized Revolution may have marched into 1.0 without many strategy fans noticing, but we’re fixing that now.
After spending a good while in Steam Early Access, the alternate history strategy game from Studio Imugi launched into 1.0 yesterday, November 9, just in time to remember how Napoleon Bonaparte overthrew the French monarchy in November 9, 1799.
In this game, however, the guiding tale is a fun alternate history scenario which puts Céline or César Bonaparte (you must choose) at the very center of the French Revolution, and towering mechs are included. Yes, you read that right. Check out the launch trailer below:
“From the ashes of a collapsing monarchy, Bonaparte - A Mechanized Revolution lets players take on the role of Bonaparte in an alternate history, where political strategy fuses with battle tactics, alliances and choices collide, and exciting mech-fuelled tactical battles change the very course of history itself.”
Bonaparte - A Mechanized Revolution riffs on 4X and grand strategy games, bringing its own ideas (plus an enticing setting) to the mix. Its key features include the following:
- Ideology-driven narrative: Choose to defend, reform, or oppose the monarchy.
- Turn-based battles: Tile and turn-based combat including mechs, cannons, and all sorts of soldier battalions.
- Political drama: Turn-based decision-making leads to strong alliances and cutthroat political battles.
- 4X elements: Take control of the regions and populace under your control, rewrite laws, push propaganda, and make daring moves on your rivals.
At the time of writing, Bonaparte - A Mechanized Revolution is only available on PC (Steam).
