Publisher Frontier Foundry and developer Complex Games today unveiled the third and final developer diary for upcoming turn-based strategy game Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters, highlighting its body part targeting system and touching upon the squad abilities players will have at their disposal in their fight against the Bloom.
Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters’ body part targeting feeds into its focus on aggressive melee combat. It gives Grey Knights who prefer fighting up close the chance to “inflict debilitating status effects, remove a foe’s limbs to prevent them from using a particular attack or reducing an enemy’s stun meter,” according to the publisher.
Stunning enemies leaves them vulnerable, giving players the chance of pulling off brutal cinematic executions. Aside from the obvious visual reward, doing so also grants Grey Knights an additional action point, which they can use to push forward towards a better position or dish additional damage.
Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters also lets players actively see the damage they can deal with ranged attacks, allowing for precise planning.
Its third developer diary also delves deeper into your ship – the Baleful Edict – and its crew, the upgrades you can give your Grey Knight squad, including the powerful single-use psychic abilities called Stratagems, which can turn a desperate fight around.
Each class comes with more than 30 possible abilities, giving quite a bit of room to specialize your units. Aside from abilities, you can also customize a variety of cosmetic elements, from tilt shields to voices, as well as the weapons and equipment your units take with them on missions.
Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters is slated to launch on May 5 and headed to PC. You can check out its latest dev diary on YouTube and learn more about the game by reading our hands-off preview.
