Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 might not be heading back to 1940's America, but its Zombies component certainly is; though it's not zombified Nazis we'll be blowing up, but undead flapper girls and wiseguys. Called Shadows of Evil, the campaign is described by Treyarch as a “gritty 1940s film-noir narrative”, with four playable classes. One of whom is played by Jeff Goldblum. Seriously.

Treyarch's Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 contains a Zombies mode, because of course it does. A listing for the San Diego Comic Con reveals that the studio will be unveiling this year's incarnation at the show.
Several in-engine screens of the initial concept for Doom 4 were leaked last month, and I don't think I was alone in thinking they looked precisely naff-all like the demon-blasting shooter series we know and love. Bethesda certainly agreed with me. Marketing VP Pete Hines has been talking to Polygon about the canned project, and his assertion that it felt like Call of Duty “with a Doom skin on it” doesn't surprise me in the least.
Treyarch's Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 continues the series' focus on future warfare, seemingly ditching the Cold War intrigue of its forebears in favour of robots, drones, and robot-drones. This time around you'll also be able to experience the series' signature bombastic story campaign in four-player co-op mode, each of you customising a separate character with various different abilities and powers. Here's just over ten minutes of this co-operative blasting in action.
Treyarch and Activision took Call of Duty: Black Ops III to Sony's E3 conference to unveil multiplayer for the latest in the series. There was also a tease for campaign gameplay, which is more futuristic than ever. Multiplayer has 'sped up' a lot with more fluid movement akin to EA's Titanfall, with plenty of wall-running and vertical exploitation. The campaign now supports four-player co-op.
Supremacy, the third DLC pack for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, will be available on PC July 2, developer Sledgehammer Games has announced. The map pack, which features four new multiplayer levels, also comes with the next chapter of the ongoing co-op Exo Zombies mode, this time guest-starring horror icon Bruce Campbell.
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare's third DLC pack, Supremacy, will feature horror icon Bruce Campbell. The star of the Evil Dead films will appear in the next episode of co-op mode Exo Zombies. It's not the first time that a famous horror star has turned up in the series; last time Jason Vorhees turned up, and he was a playable special character. CoD can be more than a little weird when it wants to be.
Sledgehammer is chucking yet more guns into the already well-stuffed Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare; following on from the old-school M1 Irons revolver that dropped earlier this month, come even more variant weapon types.
In case all those jet-packs, bionic arms and directed-energy weapons were all a bit too modern for you, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare fans, developer Sledgehammer Games has something a bit old-fashioned to make up for it. Free for all players, the M1 Irons is a no-nonsense gunslinger's revolver that also comes in ten variant flavours, all of which can be found hidden in Advanced Warfare's supply crate drops.
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare's Ascendance DLC has arrived on PC, bringing new maps, weapons, and another chapter of undead Exo-suit mayhem in the next chapter of Zombie mode, titled Infection. The new OHM LMG/Shotgun is (as you might have guessed) one of those hybrid weapons that CoD developers seem to love so much these days.
We're starting to build up a pretty clear picture of the recently revealed Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, and there's definitely some interesting ideas being thrown around in there. Here's a relatively small change, but one that a lot of gamers will appreciate - Black Ops 3 will allow players to choose the gender of their characters, both in multiplayer and, for the first time, in the game's core campaign.
Reload Studios, a new company made up of former Call of Duty developers, has revealed the new game that they're working on, cartoonish FPS World War Toons. Interestingly it's being designed specifically with VR play in mind, though anyone without access to a headset will still be able to play.
After teasing us with some stealthyviral marketing, Activision has finally confirmed that this year's Call of Duty game will be Black Ops 3. In a blog post Activision told fans to wait until April 26 for a full reveal, but also suggested there would be further details unveiled in the lead-up.
Charlie Intel is reporting that Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 has been updated with several pieces of viral marketing for the next game in the blockbuster franchise. Naturally, this has lead to speculation that Treyarch's next Call of Duty game, set for release later this year, will be a third entry in the Black Ops trilogy.
Activision has released the first gameplay trailer for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare's next piece of DLC, the Ascendance map pack DLC. I hate it! Not the DLC itself you understand, I'm sure that will be fair to enjoyable, but the god-awful 'Kerrrrazeee!', shouty, bad-rock-music tone of the trailer.
Some five years after leaving developer Infinity Ward amid a storm of nasty legal business, Activision confirmed to Polygon today that Todd Alderman, former lead designer of the Call of Duty franchise, has returned to the team as multiplayer project director. For his part, Alderman was one of the 38 members of the "Infinity Ward Employee Group" that sought legal action against Activision in early 2010 for between $75 million and $125 million in unpaid bonuses.
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is set to get another 16(!) levels of multiplayer Prestige, allowing dedicated run 'n gunners to level all the way up to the hallowed rank of Grand Master. Doing so will earn you possibly the most egregiously hideous armour set I have ever seen. Seriously, it looks like some kind of nightmarish, blackcurrant-flavour android.
Sledgehammer Games is teasing an array of special events for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare this weekend, including new playlists and game modes. In a tweet yesterday evening the developer revealed new gear drops, a 'One-shot Mosh Pit' playlist, and the addition of a Gun Game mode. Whether these are limited time events or if they're being added to Advanced Warfare for good isn't clear.
We sort of already assumed this given the recent rotation of the franchise (Infinity Ward were responsible for 2013's Ghosts, then new team Sledgehammer took over with Advanced Warfare last year), but Activision has confirmed in its Q4 2014 financial briefing that Treyarch will handle development duties on 2015's Call of Duty. What exactly they're cooking up, we still don't know. Could a sequel to the studio's first effort, Call of Duty: World at War, be on the way?
Speaking at the DICE Summit earlier this week, Treyarch studio head Mark Lamia had a confession to make; he almost killed off the wildly popular Call of Duty Zombies mode from 2008's World at War. With the development staff already stressed out from a tough development cycle, Lamia was surprised to discover that a small team had been working on new multiplayer prototypes. At the time, this sounded like a bad idea.
