E3 2013: The Elder Scrolls Online delays into 2014, will launch alongside consoles News

Bethesda has decided to push The Elder Scrolls Online out of 2013 where it was originally due to launch on PC and Mac. Instead it will now launch alongside the newly announced Xbox One and PS4 versions. That means TESO is now coming Spring 2014. Fans have been clamouring for it on Xbox One and PS4, say Bethesda, which is unsurprising given its console following since Oblivion.

Bethesda detail "player roles and enemy behaviors" in ESO dungeons News

In place of an 'Ask Us Anything' feature this week, Bethesda has decided to dish the dirt on "player roles and enemy behaviors" we can expect from dungeons in The Elder Scrolls Online; they're designed for groups. There's plenty to do on your own in ESO, stress Bethesda. Traditional MMO roles are "still important" even with ESO's "open-ended skill system" mixing it up. Roles can be changed 'on the fly'.

Cross-platform development "just a nightmare," says Pete Hines News

Bethesda's woe over development across Xbox and PlayStation, while "much easier" with Xbox One and PS4, it remains "just a nightmare." What helps is that both next-gens are "high-end PCs" architecturally. Despite all that sameness, Xbox One and PS4 remain very individual from each other. Bethesda had notorious troubles with PS3 Skyrim which delayed DLC by months.

Creative director Paul Sage of Zenimax Online's MMORPG The Elder Scrolls Online is a "big proponent personally" of making sure they're ready to roll out a "high frequency" of new content post launch. The studio anticipates gamers will "chew through content quickly," and so want to ensure there's a "constant stream of goodies" pouring into the online world of TESO.

ZeniMax: The Elder Scrolls Online to use "subscription model" for MMO News

ZeniMax Online Studios' Matt Firor has said they're nose to the grindstone on delivering a game that's "worthy of the Elder Scrolls name" in The Elder Scrolls Online. Apparently monthly subs are also 'worthy'. Game director Firor promises "meaningful and consistent content" with TESO, that can be played solo, thanks to a "flat monthly" fee. Free-to-play 'would mean sacrifices'.

Your face is hideous! Let me just move this slider a little more to the... Perfect! Bethesda has just released a new video for The Elder Scrolls Online showing the far more detailed character creation for the MMO. No more lumpy potato heads or draconian restrictions to tweaking anything below the neckline; adjust bulging biceps to flabby beer guts. The Bethesda MMO is due Q1 2014.

Latest Bethesda 'Ask Us Anything' details TESO lockpicking, kill-stealing News

How will The Elder Scrolls Online dealing with the dirty business of 'kill-stealing'? The latest Ask Us Anything posted by Bethesda reveals the MMORPG doesn't want to discourage "helpful behaviour" in any way. In order to prevent kill-stealing, only if someone does sufficient enough damage alongside the original aggressor will they share in any XP or loot, otherwise they get nothing.
