Activision has announced that the 'Escalation' DLC pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops is now available on PC through Steam. The map pack features four new multiplayer maps and an unprecedented Zombie experience, including famed director George A. Romero, Robert Englund, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Michael Rooker and Danny Trejo.
Publishing giant Activision has announced their E3 line-up this year but also dated Call of Duty: Elite's beta which is on schedule for a July 14th launch. Testing will be done through Black Op's multiplayer, and will be fully launched with Modern Warfare 3. Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure will be at E3 this week.
Call of Duty Elite and its subscription plan for game content has really rubbed Blacklight's Zombie Studios the wrong way. It's "sad" and "really weird," they say. They ask why aren't the huge profits from the series "evolving the game even more?" They're "amazing" games but over the last four was there "anything really new?"
PC Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 could be getting dedicated servers but Infinity Ward "can't confirm anything yet" as the studio is "having conversations". The plan for IWnet, introduced with Modern Warfare 2, was to "eventually add in" dedicated server support, say Infinity. Don't want to lose "dedicated core".

Activision's Dan Amrich posted in his One of Swords blog that two million users have signed up Call of Duty: Elite's beta, who said the number "blew his mind" when "they hit that number in less than two weeks. A blurred image of a promotional leaflet from GameStop teases an upcoming DLC package for Call of Duty: Black Ops. It teases five new maps are on the way. Four are traditional online environments while the fifth is a new zombie addition. The maps are even named on the flyer though no date is seen stamped on it.

Activision Publishing's Eric Hirshberg says that Sledgehammer Games and Infinity Ward had overcome "healthy creative tensions" with Modern Warfare 3. Infinity welcomed Sledgehammer, a decision "born out of necessity" and were a "high octane partner" creatively. MW3 has "gotten better" because of the two.

Robert Bowling of Infinity Ward has announced they've "changed the entire way" multiplayer killstreaks are implemented in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. While the creative strategist "can't go into detail yet," he does say the studio will spill it when they can. Will this shake-up the COD online experience?

Microsoft and Activision-Blizzard have announced the first major Call of Duty convention, Call of Duty XP 2011, aka the Call of Duty Experience in Los Angeles from September 2-3, 2011.
Developer Sledgehammer Games has confirmed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, which they're making with Infinity Ward, will be colour blind friendly. Michael Condrey of Sledgehammer revealed the feature when asked by a colour blind fan. That "red-green deficiency" won't plague Modern Warfare 3.
