Call of Duty multiplayer has always been a favorite target for cheaters, such as Modern Warfare 2, whose community had been ravaged by constant boosting, hacking an exploits. Keeping games safe from cheaters is a constant struggle, states Activision producer Noah Heller, but the company will not be heavy-handed about it. Modern Warfare 3 suffers far less hacking, but the game still gets exploited by boosters. Heller won't explain what the developers are doing to keep the game's multiplayer safe, but he did hint that the company's in-house anti-cheating tools are getting better.

Infinity Ward's creative strategist Robert Bowling has issued a warning to gamers who are intent on exploiting a flaw on one of the new maps from the recent DLC map for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Black Box. If they do, they'll be facing the ban hammer. In his FourZeroTwo Twitter feed, Bowling tweeted, "There's a glitch in Black Box that allows you to get under the map. Fix already in the works, out by Friday. Don't exploit, we'll be banning."

Robert Bowling, whom for many was the face of Infinity Ward even before co-founders Jason West and Vincent Zampella were fired by Activision, has announced he is leaving the developer as its creative strategist. “Today, I resign from my position as Creative Strategist of Call of Duty, as a lead of Infinity Ward, and as an employee of Activision,” Bowling announced from his well-known FourZeroTwo Twitter feed.

Valve has announced that gamers will be able to enjoy some free Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 this coming weekend. The "Content Collection" downloadable content for the PC version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will finally be hitting on the 8th May, after having been released on the Xbox 360 in January for Call of Duty: Elite users, regular Xbox 360 gamers in March, and the PlayStation 3 in April. Now that Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 has been officially announced by Activision, new information has started to stram in. In the latest Call of Duty Elite TV episode of Roll Call, Treyarch studio head Mark Lamia has revealed that the Zombie Mode will be back and bigger than ever. According to Lamia, "If you like zombies, you’re going to be really happy with what we’re doing with Black Ops 2. It’s our biggest, most-ambitious zombies ever."

Treyarch studio boss Mark Lamia says there are over "250 people" at the developer working on Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, but there's "over 300 people working on the project" in its entirety. That tallies up contractors and test teams who "aren't actually employees" of Treyarch. These numbers are needed for their "pretty big and ambitious" single player and multiplayer.

Mark Lamia of Treyarch acknowledges that Black Ops is busy doing "its own thing" within the Call of Duty franchise, and so isn't linked with the likes of Modern Warfare from Infinity Ward. It's also its "own brand of fiction" as well, says the studio head, where its fiction is rooted in a "historical setting and context" and they "weave" their fiction through it.
