The rumors are true: Telltale Games confirmed the studio is working on a videogame adaptation of the popular HBO adaptation of George R.R. Martin's fantasy book series, Game of Thrones.

Telltale Games unveiled a trailer on Friday showing off their newest licensed adventure game series based on the HBO adaptation of George R.R. Martin's Game of Thrones. The developer has issued a press release giving some more details about it.

George R.R. Martin's world in the Game of Thrones is pretty big, so where and when exactly are Telltale Games going to plant their adventure telling flag? CEO Dan Connors confirms it's "not a prequel". He talks about decisions made by King Joffrey and the ripple effects on the poeple, which hints it will be taking place during the events of the books and HBO TV series.

Author Ty Corey Franck, who also works as George R. R. Martin's assistant, will join the team working on Telltale's Game of Thrones game, acting as a story consultant. The job will presumably entail making sure nothing that appears in the highly anticipated game contradicts the increasing labyrinthine lore of the Song of Ice and Fire book series.

Destiny writer Joshua Rubin has left Bungie to work with Telltale Games on its upcoming Game of Thrones title. Fans will presumably be hoping he's not the guy responsible for "those Wizards came from the Moon". "It’s a privilege to be working on Telltale’s Game of Thrones," Rubin said on Twitter, "I'm a massive fan of the show."

Telltale Games has tweeted the first teaser image in a while for its upcoming Game of Thrones adaptation, revealing an interesting clue towards the game's setting. "...Trackers and hunters sworn to Deepwood with clan names such as Forrester and Woods, Branch and Bole," reads an excerpt on the tweet, with the clan name Forrester specifically highlighted.
