CD Projekt have released a few tantalizing hints about their next upcoming RPG Cyberpunk 2077. It will be a "true RPG" with a "gamer-centric focus", and will be "more ambitious than The Witcher 3".

CD Projekt have just wrapped up The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine, the final expansion to the Witcher series for at least the next six years. As CD Projekt fans will understand, creating huge titles that maintain a high quality is a time consuming process, which is why Cyberpunk 2077 will not be at E3 this year. In an interview with Eurogamer, CD Projekt co-founder Marcin Iwinski told the website not to expect Cyberpunk 2077 at E3. "It might happen that we will be at E3 and we will show something at E3, but I just want to make it clear it's not Cyberpunk,” said Iwinski. "We still have a lot of work to do with Cyberpunk."

Thanks to an interview by GameStar and the translation by Reddit user Pawel95, a huge amount of information has come out about CD Projekt’s current and future titles. The forty-five minute interview was broken up into three sections: General things, details about the new Witcher 3 expansion and brief comments about Cyberpunk 2077. In an interview with iDigitalTimes.com, Jose Teixeira, visual effects artist for CD Projekt RED, claimed the software they use to create the game was being updated drastically. Teixeira mentions some of the problems the developers had while creating The Witcher 3 and how they wanted better software to alleviate those problems: “The most important thing that’s happening at the moment is that the programmers are taking the feedback we gave them from working on The Witcher. As cliché as it sounds it was a big learning experience.”

Gamers have been playing the heck out of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and while The Witcher 4 isn't coming anytime soon, CD Projekt RED fans need not be too worried, as in a report by a German publication, inside sources leaked that Cyberpunk 2077, the studios sci-fi RPG based on the popular R. Talsorian pen-and-paper roleplaying game, may be coming earlier than the original 2017 target.

Witcher 3 brought the series to a whole new level. The series has put CD Projekt Red on the map and flourished in 2015 as one of the best action-adventure titles of all time. That said, everyone certainly wants to know if CD Project Red will continue on with the series. The answer is yes, but not anytime soon.

The initial reveal trailer was to 'gauge interest'. The response "has been incredible," said CD Projekt RED co-CEO Marcin Iwinski, and it also helped them avoid 'burning out on swords'. The studio is kept "energized with Cyberpunk."

Issues of "graphical downgrades" aside, I think it's fair to say the reception for CD Projekt's behemoth RPG The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has been rather positive so far. It looks like being the title that breaks the series into the mainstream. "Sales of the third part will be many times higher than with our earlier games. Preorders indicate this," says CD Projekt's chief executive Adam Kicinski. "We broke into the mainstream. It is such a moment in our firm's history that after some years people will look differently at CD Projekt before and after this release."

With CD Projekt RED having pushed RPG The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt further back into May earlier this month, the studio is "now focusing entirely" on it to ensure they have it in the best shape possible. What about that other RPG Cyberpunk 2077? We're told "worry not" about the highly anticipated sci-fi romp, as its "time will come." There's no release schedule yet for it. Hopefully before 2077.
