Sadly things aren’t going so smoothly it would seem for Halo 3: ODST’s launch as some users are complaining of disc read errors, with developer Bungie looking into the issue.
Older consoles seem to be more susceptible, but Elites have been hit too. Installing the game to the hard drive can fix the issue perhaps? The multiplayer for ODST appears unaffected.
”Some believe the issue only affects older consoles, specifically those with older DVD drives. Anecdotally, our own David Hinkle encountered the DRE issue on a 2008 Elite,” reports Joysitq.
”According to Hinkle, installing the game to the hard drive seemed to fix the problem. He later bought a second copy of the game and hasn’t encountered the issue again.”
Having to get a second copy of the game isn’t exactly the kind of solution one wants to hear and hopefully Bungie will come back with something a little less hassling. The game for some has been rendered unplayable due to these read errors. Have you had trouble?
