The game was given ”extra time” by the studio to ”polish and debug” further. The PC version releases two weeks later than on the Xbox 360.
”The reason that has been given for the delay is that the extra time was need to polish and debug the game,” Ubisoft told Eurogamer. ”The slip has not been linked to the DRM.” So far many have complained about the DRM.
It requires, even if the game is singleplayer, that the user be connected to Ubisoft’s servers at all times. Should connection drop then the game is halted, or won’t launch. They defend the system for being able to keep saved games and settings online.
”We know this choice is controversial but we feel is justified by the gameplay advantages offered by the system and because most PCs are already connected to the internet,” said Ubisoft back in January. Settlers 7 is the latest game with the new DRM.
