The Wild West title has started to ”fly up the pre-order charts” which will ”hopefully translate” into big launch numbers. On consoles May 21st.
”This title is incredibly beautiful and on an unprecedented scale,” Rockstar UK boss Stephen told MCV in an interview. ”Red Dead Redemption is our most ambitious game to date and our biggest release this year.” There’s no denying the scale of the game.

We take the role of John Marston a former outlaw who’s charged by the US government to bring in, dead or alive, his former gang members otherwise the family suffers. Much like Grand Theft Auto it takes place in a huge sandbox environment.
The world is filled with story and side missions that can be completed at the leisure of the player, so you can likely go off exploring for hours combining over the vast Western lands that Rockstar San Diego has put together.
”As game makers, our goal is to fulfil the players’ fantasies as much as possible and fortunately the concept of the old West comes loaded with so many images, moments, characters and a strong sense of legend attached to it,” said Stephen.
”This has been incredible source material to work with and has led to us creating an incredibly unique and exciting gaming experience filled with classic Western moments including stand offs, duels, stagecoach fights, gunfights on trains, hold-ups, bounty hunting and so on.” Rockstar is pouring cash into the game’s marketing effort.
”In terms of sales projections, we are aiming high and as such are focusing more attention on retail channels than ever before,” he continued. ”These plans have seen Red Dead Redemption start to fly up the pre-order charts and the strong base we build with pre-orders will hopefully translate into a big launch for the title.”
Red Dead Redemption releases on Xbox 360 and PS3 May 21st in Europe.
