That means ”strong future demand” for connected TVs, Internet ready Blu-ray players and ”networked digital media players” like Apple TV.
Parks Associates published a report showing the jump in the number of home console owners wiring up their next-gens to get online, either for gaming or streaming media to the TV. One third of Xbox 360 owners now stream online video in the US.
Users who hooked up PCs to TV to watch streamed programs rose 36 percent added the report, reaching 3/4 of US households.
”Many households are working with devices they already have to get the connected-TV experience, which shows strong future demand for connected TVs, Web-enabled Blu-ray players, and networked digital media players such as Apple TV and Roku,” said Parks Associates’ principal analyst Kurt Scherf, reports Gamasutra.
”Manufacturers and service providers should examine these consumer behaviors closely, so they can match their current and future connected offerings with actual demand without pricing themselves out of the market.”
