A posting from EA Support explains just why a game doesn’t appear on Valve’s service, ”When a download service forbids publishers from contacting players with patches, new levels, items and other services - it disrupts our ability to provide the ongoing support players expect from us. At present, this is the case with only one download service. While EA offers its entire portfolio to this site, they have elected to not post many of our games. We hope to find a mutually agreeable solution to this issue soon.”
The entire Electronic Arts/Valve legal mess began when Crysis 2 vanished from Steam. Initially, it was thought that Crysis 2 had become an EA exclusive on Origin, but the game was available from other digital distributors.
At the time, EA stated, ”Steam has imposed a set of business terms for developers hoping to sell content on that service – many of which are not imposed by other online game services. Unfortunately, Crytek has an agreement with another download service which violates the new rules from Steam and resulted in its expulsion of Crysis 2 from Steam.”
We’ll be keeping an eye on this fluid situation.
