According to Gaming Revolution, there’s been a lot of things going on behind the doors at Sony:
Just this week the Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY was made official, giving yet another option for gaming on the go.
But what about traditional consoles and the PlayStation 4? Unfortunately, Sony believes that the handheld market will soon “displace” the home console and the project has been put on held. Sony is said to have been producing a “PowerPC-based system at IBM Rochester” but shelved it.
The translated report from Japan’s PC Watch also states that Sony wants to focus on the PS3 for a while longer, which further explains why they’d postpone development on a successor.
This could explain the severe influx of Sony portable devices lately.
