We didn't think much of it when some of Call of Duty 4's un-implemented weapons were found safe and well in the remaster; but perhaps they were hinting to us a darker future. Micro-transactions have arrived in our classic shooter. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered was to be our last bastion of hope. A call-back to the early days of the last generation where DLC was still frowned upon as a greedy money-grab but smaller, cosmetic cash vacuums were nowhere to be seen. But it's been tainted. Making its way from Infinite Warfare, our safe haven has been infected. Supply Drops rain from above.
There's still no sign of the shovel as a usable weapon just yet, but it certainly does exist.
Reticles, weapon skins, emblems, uniforms and even characters are now available for purchase with either real money or in-game currency earned between matches. It isn't all bad, however. There's no 'pay-to-win' mechanic involved here, but you know there's bound to be loud videos of folks pulling a 'rare' skin from a military box. That's how war works, right? They're all after fashion. Oh. But there's 6 new maps and 2 new game-modes, too. So that should ease the pain a little. Now when can we just buy the game separately, Activision?
