Calling All Units - Expansion #2 For 'The Crew' Is Out

Ubisoft's rather generous offer of giving away The Crew - one of 2014's biggest driving games - for free seems to be making much more sense today with the release of the 'Calling All Units' expansion. Retailing at $25 and requiring the base game in order to play, the subtle art of enticing potential expansion-purchasing racers with a free copy of the base game is starting to rear its head.

Those familiar with many famous Hollywood car-chase scenes will feel right at home with this expansion, as it, if you can't tell from the name alone, leans heavily on bringing street races and police car chases into the mix. Finally outlawing the dangerous driving around the open-world roads of The Crew, the cops are here to hunt down racers attempting to score a few extra "car fragments" by running tasks around town.

Has The Crew's appeal been and gone? Forza Horizon 3 is getting a pretty big expansion soon too.

Crates come as a new standard in the expansion essentially being a gameplay addition for free-play mode; Pick up a crate and drop it off without being brought in by the fuzz and you'll put yourself ever-closer to some new car unlocks. There's prologue missions, an increased 60 level cap and a bounty system put in place to rate both racers and cops individual skill level. To ease up on the price a little, the game's first expansion 'Wild Run' comes packaged with this $25 add-on. If you're in need of the full set, however, you're looking at a $50 Ultimate Edition.
