You've never quite lived on the seas until your friends are serenading you with the not-so-smooth sounds of a sea shanty from an age-old instrument. Welcome to Sea of Thieves! Though things went a little quiet after its initial reveal, Rare and Microsoft have ramped up their footage throughput in recent weeks.
Sea Of Thieves Enters Technical Alpha - Celebrate With A First Glimpse Trailer
Dodging introductions, we're thrown into a point where nobody is quite sure who they're playing. Once they figure that out, it's time to paddle out onto the ship, check the map for some potential buried loot off in a distance and set sail. Taking cues from Guns of Icarus, Sea of Thieves is all about teamwork and fulfilling certain roles. One person needs to relay directions to the captain while others will eventually do the digging once your navigator gets you witin range of the treasure. If you're attacking on the way back, you'll have to divy up your resources to keep pressure on the enemy while others patch up the ship and do what they can to stop the situation from taking a turn for the worst. And that's demonstrated in fine form in the video below. Everything starts off simple enough with the sounds of a sea shanty keeping tense low and hopes high. But it doesn't last. Sea of Thieves doesn't have a date yet, but the developers are slotted in for a first quarter release.
