Following a reveal during the latest PC Gaming Show, Stronghold 4 is climbing the ranks on Steam. Now, Firefly Studios has released a public demo for the RTS/city builder hybrid.
The new entry in the legendary ‘castle sim’ series is coming to PC via Steam later this year with modern ideas and a gorgeous 3D world, yet Firefly aims to build on and expand the franchise’s core systems and mechanics in a way that feels true to its past. As a reminder, last year we received the excellent refresh titled Stronghold Crusader: Definitive Edition, so Stronghold 4 feels like a culmination of the developer’s recent efforts to reinvigorate the RTS series.
Stronghold 4, however, is a prequel that follows “Penryn of Wethel as his simple shepherd’s life is upended and he is forced through trial by fire to become the leader he sees within himself.” A notable focus on the narrative has been promised, with voice actors like Ben Starr, Samantha Béart, Walles Hamonde, and Harry McEntire adding weight to the story and characters.
As Stronghold 4 reaches over 250k wishlists on Steam, quickly becoming one of the most anticipated games on the platform, Firefly Studios has released a demo which can be downloaded and played by everyone ahead of its early access launch at some point in 2026.
