First Wonder fell far short of its Kickstarter goals, but the developer Rogue Rocket Games stated, "we’re committed to continuing to work on First Wonder, finding a way to build it up over time to hit our aspirations for what we wanted to accomplish." They have finally given up the ghost, however, and terminated the project permanently.

Rogue Rocket Games has launched their crowdfunding campaign for First Wonder on Kickstarter, which is described by the co-founders as a spiritual successor to Giants: Citizen Kabuto and MDK.
