Former Mythic dev beseeches EA to 'flip switch' for Warhammer Online 'single player'
Andrew Meggs, a former Warhammer Online developer, has explained an easy way how the now axed-in-the-back MMO could live on, at least in spirit. Just 'flip the switch' for the internal dev build. It would render the MMO a single player "double-clickable museum" that exhibits "much of what WAR was," and to help its memory live on. Meggs claims EA insiders can "easily make this happen."
Warhammer Online shuts down permanently
For gamers who were faithful to the Games Workshop-licensed MMO Warhammer Online, today represents a sad day as the game's servers close down for good.
Mythic offer "parting gift" to account holders of Warhammer Online
With the end times coming to Warhammer Online as the MMO shuts down, developer Mythic is offering a "parting gift" to current account holders like adding new NPCs to "power up" characters. There are other "unique experiences" being added for everyone to enjoy as the countdown continues to December 18th. New sign-ups are disabled as are charges.
Mythic's Warhammer Online closing this December
The Warhammer licensing deal with Games Workshop expires this year for EA's Mythic and with no plans to renew the contract, MMO Warhammer Online is for the chop. It shuts down this December. The MMO has been running since 2008 and saw huge initial subscription numbers but hit continuous decline shortly thereafter. Auto-renewals are now disabled.
