While we don’t have an official synopsis for the Elden Ring movie, it will follow the game to some degree. The sizable cast suggests it won’t be going for a simple snapshot of a story within the sprawling epic.
Elden Ring Movie Release Date
The Elden Ring movie is set to hit theaters on March 3, 2028, and will be filmed for IMAX. Production begins in Spring 2026.

The budget for the Elden Ring movie is reported to be over £100 million, which would make it one of the more expensive A24 movies to date.
Elden Ring Movie Director
Elden Ring will be written and directed by Alex Garland. Garland began his film career writing for the likes of Danny Boyle’s 28 Days Later and Sunshine.
He then became a director, helming Ex Machina, Annihilation, Men, Civil War, and Warfare. He also wrote and directed the TV series Devs.

Ruby Cruz joins Bottoms co-star Havana Rose Liu in Elden Ring. Her previous work includes the shows Mare of Easttown, Castle Rock, and Willow.

Best known for his role as Ron Swanson in the comedy series Parks and Recreation, Offerman has previously worked with Garland in 2024’s Civil War.
John Hodgkinson
While he has worked predominantly as a stage actor with the Royal Shakespeare Company, he’s had small roles in Ridley Scott’s Napoleon and Sam Mendes’ Skyfall.
Jefferson Hall
English actor Hall has appeared in the TV shows Vikings and Game of Thrones, as well as in smaller roles in films such as Halloween 2018, Oppenheimer, Tenet, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Scottish-born actress Laird is best known for her role in TV series Mayor of Kingstown, but played a fairly notable role in this year’s 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple as Jimmima.
