After some ups and downs when it came to publishing, developer Divio is finally launching sci-fi and fantasy RTS Liquidation into Steam Early Access early next month, with MicroProse Software as the final publisher.
The news were shared on July 23, with the studio confirming August 4 is the chosen release date. At launch, the old-school RTS will include the first two chapters of the campaign (six missions), three (out of four) fully playable factions, skirmish maps for both PvP and PvE games, and the valuable replay function. A price tag hasn’t been shared, but the game will be cheaper during the early access period, with 1.0 expected to arrive during the second half of 2027.
“A tactical RTS from MicroProse and Divio set in the shattered world of Veá, where fantasy and sci-fi collide in a war over Quenrium, a substance capable of sustaining life on a dying planet. Lead one of three distinct factions, the Twilight Crusade, Scourge Alliance, or Legion, in battles built around positioning, unit synergy, and smart army composition.”
With a focus on “mid-sized forces”, army composition, and hero-like commanders, it’s abundantly clear Warcraft 3 and the StarCraft series were key influences. Moreover, the trailers have showcased a colourful and vibrant art style which reflects their visuals. In the absence of new RTS games from Blizzard, we’ll take anything, but it’s worth noting the factions in Liquidation feel unique and take cues from other classics as well.
Alongside the announcement, a new (but short) in-game trailer was unleashed, and we’re digging the vibes!
