The French-based publisher is now offering over 40 titles to be downloaded by North American users of Steam. They have for some reason kept European members out of the loop.
This means that Ubi now offers more titles than any other major house through the Steam service, beating SEGA, THQ, 2K, Activision, Rockstar and Eidos.
”It’s their call,” says Doug Lombardi of Valve marketing. ”We offer worldwide coverage, and we’re happy to offer the products to as many customers as the publisher/developer desires.”
Their upcoming release of Assassin’s Creed for PC will also be available via Steam, it’ll be downloadable on April 9th which is a few days early to European retail release. Recently acquired IP Tom Clancy will have games up for grabs soon too, as will Heroes of Might & Magic and Far Cry.
Odd why Ubisoft has stipulated that only US users get the goodies online, perhaps they’ll issue a statement unless that’s for a North American only release too…
