The corporate giant Microsoft has issued their thanks to Tomonobu Itagaki for his years of support to the platform and his contributions to ”the videogame industry as a whole.”
Tecmo would like to paint a different picture after Itagaki has gone after them through the courts, the company claims his suit is nothing but ”distortions”.
”Tomonobu Itagaki has decided to leave TECMO and Team NINJA to pursue other opportunities,” a Microsoft rep commented to Kotaku. ”We thank Tomonobu Itagaki for the many years he has supported Xbox as he has contributed immensely to the success of the videogame industry as a whole.”
While receiving praise for his loyalty to the platform, Tecmo wasn’t going to be so admiring of his past. The claims in Itagaki’s suit mention unpaid ”completion bonus” to which Tecmo have said was an agreement from the previous corporate administration.
They also mentioned a sexual harassment suit that they were dealing with internally but that Itagaki was accepting nothing less than a full counter-suit being filed. Sexual misconduct and money equals a recipe for public interest.
”Our company getting sued by this employee is huge problem… the reasons for making this lawsuit public are self-centered. What’s more, this employee is filing this suit for himself and making it seem like he alone is responsible for the development of the game titles the rest of the Team Ninja staff had poured its heart into,” read more of Tecmo’s response.
”Team NINJA is currently working on a line-up of new titles. All of Team NINJA is starting to work together on interesting new game titles.”
If Japanese family game show antics are anything to go by things are gonna get real interesting soon…
