An expansion pack to Hellgate is still in the pipeline despite having the plug pulled on the game's servers in the US and EU; Namco won't budge on that.
HanbitSoft however holds the rights in Asian territories so are continuing to bring the add-on, which is actually being developed in the USA. Will Hellgate ever catch a break?
You kind of have to feel sorry for the videogame as now its new 'foster parents' seem split on what to do with it. Namco Bandai owns and operates the IP rights in Europe and North America so they have final say in the West. HanbitSoft has final say in the East so they can keep going without Namco's approval.
"Hanbit owns the IP and rights to publish anywhere other then the US and EU ... NAMCO owns the rights to publish in the US and EU," a Namco rep on the official Hellgate: London forums.
The expansion update is apparently going to surpass "The Abyss Chronicles", which is being handled by the new T3 Entertainment studio in the US. It shouldn't be released for us Western gamers though unless an agreement is hammered out between the two companies.
Hellgate: London on last legs in US/EU, expansion still in works
